Inheritance Act claims

Inheritance is one of the most sensitive areas of law, as dealing with it usually comes unexpectedly and at the same time as the sad news of a person's death. It remains a fact that with planning, these dealings could be made much simpler by the actions of a person before they pass away.

Wills are not always straight-forward and an unexpected outcome may have left you in a vulnerable position. It may be that the house you live in has not been left to you, or money you considered to be yours has been allocated to someone else.

If you find yourself in this position you may be able to use an Inheritance Act claim to remedy your situation.

A claim under the Inheritance Act is an attempt by a person associated with the deceased to become a beneficiary, or a greater beneficiary of the deceased's estate. Inheritance Act Claims have the power to redistribute a deceased’s estate to make provision for those related to the deceased and/or their dependants.

Not everyone can make an Inheritance Act claim. However, if you feel you have lost out because of an incorrect or unfair will you should contact a specialist Inheritance solicitor who will be able to explain the process and advise you on the specific details of claiming. Make sure you have as much information related to your claim as possible as it will help you make a successful claim.

Like most claims, Inheritance Act claims can be handled on a No Win No Fee basis, which means if you do not win your case, you will not have to pay towards the fees or costs.
